This Privacy Policy describes how BeerGuideApps LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the London Beer Guide mobile application (“Application”). The Application was originally created by Fred Waltman and is offered commercially by BeerGuideApps LLC.
This policy applies to the Application identified above. Some features may vary by platform (iOS or Android). By using the Application, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy.
You do not need to create an account or register with us to use the core features of the Application.
The Application generates and stores a random identifier on your device (for example using on-device storage). That identifier may be sent to our servers so we can associate certain actions with your installation—for example, to synchronize your saved favourites across sessions and to display aggregate favourite counts for venues. This identifier is not your name, email address, or phone number, but it may still be considered personal data under applicable laws because it can distinguish your device from others.
When the Application downloads pub listings and related content from our servers, it may transmit information such as: your city or edition code for the Application, app build number, operating system (iOS or Android), device model name, device language/locale, OS version, how many times the app has been launched (where that feature is enabled), and the pseudonymous device identifier described above. We use this information to deliver updates, understand compatibility, and maintain our services.
If you allow location access, the Application may use your device location on your device—for example to show nearby venues, distances, or your position on a map. We do not use that precise location to identify you by name, and we do not describe sending your live GPS coordinates to our servers in the current version of the Application for those features. If that changes in a future version, we will update this Privacy Policy before or when the change takes effect.
Where the Application includes a weather forecast, it may request forecast data from OpenWeather using fixed geographic coordinates for your city or edition (not necessarily your current GPS position). OpenWeather receives the request from your device and may process technical data such as IP address according to its own policies. See OpenWeather’s privacy policy.
Map screens may use mapping services (including Google Maps on some platforms). Those providers may collect device and usage information under their terms. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
Some screens may display HTML content inside an in-app browser view (for example articles or news). That content may load images or other resources from third-party servers; those third parties may collect standard technical information.
If you contact us by email or through a feedback feature, we receive whatever information you choose to send (such as your email address and message contents). We use that information only to respond and to improve our services where appropriate.
The Application may link to external websites (for example support or informational pages). Those sites are governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.
When your device contacts our servers (for example at domains operated for Beer Guide content and updates), standard server logs may include information such as your IP address, request time, and requested resource. We use logs for security, troubleshooting, and service operation.
The Application uses Google’s Firebase services, including Firebase Crashlytics for crash and stability diagnostics and Google Analytics for Firebase (Firebase Analytics) for product analytics. These SDKs collect and process technical and usage information from your device—such as crash logs and stack traces, diagnostic signals, app and OS version, device model, installation or instance identifiers, and information about how you use the Application—and send it to Google for processing on our behalf.
Processing by Google is governed by Google’s and Firebase’s terms and privacy notices. For details, see Firebase Privacy and Security and Google’s Privacy Policy. Depending on your device, you may be able to limit certain identifiers or ad-related settings in system preferences; crash reporting and core analytics may still collect technical data needed to provide those services.
We use the information described above to:
We do not sell your personal information as that term is commonly understood under U.S. state privacy laws.
We share information with service providers who assist us—including Google for Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics—and with hosting, mapping, and weather providers when those features are used. We also share information when required by law or to protect rights and safety. We may share information in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.
We retain server-side information only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law. On-device information remains until you delete the Application or clear app data, depending on your device settings.
We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect information. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
General. You can withdraw location permission in your device settings; some features may then be limited. For analytics and advertising-related identifiers, you may have additional controls in your device or Google account settings; see Google’s help materials for the current options in your region.
Uninstall. You can stop use of the Application and delete locally stored data by uninstalling the app.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. If applicable law grants you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, or objection, you may contact us at the email below. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California and certain other U.S. states. Residents may have rights under state privacy laws, including to know categories of personal information collected, to request deletion subject to exceptions, and to opt out of sale or certain sharing of personal information where those concepts apply. We do not knowingly sell personal information of minors under 16. To exercise rights, contact us at the email below.
BeerGuideApps LLC is based in the United States. If you use the Application from outside the United States, your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate.
The Application is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated through the Application or other reasonable means where appropriate.
